ABOUT MU TRACK ONE

This track is for students desiring to achieve a professional level in dance. This is apprenticeship style training, requiring up to 12 classes a week (with an option of taking up to 14 classes a week). An audition process is required. Class audition, as well as a student and parent essay and commitment letter, is required. Acceptance will be based upon technique, passion, and commitment. Once accepted, evaluation will take place every six months to ensure progress and continued acceptance in the program. Age minimum accepted into this track is age 9. Individual genre focus will be set with an adviser upon acceptance into Track One and will be reviewed and revised as needed.

Ages 9 - 12: 6-10 classes/week minimum (required: 2 ballet classes/week, 1 conditioning class/week)

Ages 12 - adult: 10-12 classes/week minimum (required: 3 ballet classes/week, 2 conditioning classes/week)

Track One Tuition (5 week payment) - $250

 

\ ACRO

Age: By Instructor Approval

Description: Sports Acrobatics is a form of acrobatics that uses two or more partners and no equipment. There will be basic tumbling. The stretching and conditioning will be tailored to the student population and geared towards dancers. There will be upper body conditioning. Acrobatics is a visual art and so watching videos (as homework) may be recommended.

\ BEGINNER POINTE

Age: By Instructor Approval

Attire: Required – Pointe shoes, Ballet Uniform (Contact Instructor for more information)

Hair: Neat bun (if hair too short for a bun, hair must be pulled back out of face)

Description: This class is for beginner and low intermediate pointe dancers. Correct alignment and strengthening feet and ankles are important aspects in this class.

\ BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE ADULT TAHITIAN

Age: 8+

Attire: Fitted top, pareo

Hair: Must be pulled back out of the face

Description: This class is for beginner tahitian dancers. Basic tahitian steps will be taught and developed. The dancer will also be developing an "ear" for hearing the timing in tahitian drum beats.

\ HULA/'OLI (CHANT)

Age: 10+ or with Instructor approval

Description: Classes will use Hawaiian songs to teach vocabulary and the meaning behind each song, training in basic hula steps, and choreography. Students will learn the vocabulary and meanings of traditional Hawaiian chants, train in different styles of oli, have a proficient understanding of protocol, and understand the purpose behind each chant.

\ INTERMEDIATE BREAKING

Age: Ages 7 - Adults.

Attire: Sneakers, knee pads, beanie or head gear is mandatory (Please no clothes that are restricting or revealing)

Description: This is an intermediate class that will break down breakdancing moves from top rocks and transitions to tricks and holds. This class is to encourage and spark life in all ages.

\ INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED BALLET

Attire (required): Ballet shoes, Ballet Uniform (Contact Instructor for more information)

Hair: Neat bun (if hair too short for a bun, hair must be pulled back out of face)

Description: This class is geared towards pre-professional and professional dancers and students who desire to work toward a high level of excellence in technique. Combinations taught will be intermediate-advance in execution and sequence (difficultly and complexity). The goal is for students to reach a new height of excellence in technique, mindsets, and diligence.
Included in this class are the fundamental components of ballet, learning vocabulary (pronunciation and spelling), and biblical principles to sharpen the dancer’s character. In this, the dancer’s whole being (mind, body, and spirit) is working towards excellence. Learning good habits that are executed correctly is a primary focus (such as placement, posture, self-discipline, and diligence). Inspiring and nurturing the creativity in students to enjoy dancing for the Lord is continually reinforced through free-style worship and choreography in class.
Sessions are intended to be ongoing and continued enrollment is strongly encouraged for consistent improvement. Students will formulate a list of goals and improvements they want to work on and will review and re-adjust them every 3-4 months.

\ PARTNERING

Description: This class is designed to train dancers in the basic foundation of ballet partnering. Learning correct placement is an essential element of this class. Previous and current ballet training is necessary to participate. Instructor's approval required to enroll.

\ STRENGTHENING AND STRETCHING (S&S)

Age: 12+

Attire: Leotard or tank with dance pants or bike shorts/shirt and workout pants. May bring your own yoga mat.

Description: The pace of this class will move at the level the student sets for themself; the standard of this class is based on integrity, character, and persistence. The moves taught and pushed in this hour will not only strengthen and stretch the body to enhance physical agility and flexibility, but also grow an excellence and respect for your body, mind, and spirit.
