ART CLASSES FOR FALL 2012

Day: Wednesday

Dates: January 3-May 25, 2012 (20 weeks) OR with enrollment of six or more students

Location: Moments Unforgettable Performing Arts Academy

Cost: $180 for 20 week session plus a one time $10 material fee

Times (see below for class descriptions):
2:30-3:30 p.m. - Art Class (4-6 yrs)
3:45-4:45 p.m. - Beginning Drawing (8+ yrs)

All art supplies will be provided. Only 10-12 students per class allowed, so please sign up as soon as possible.

Payment – Cash or check made out to Joanna Lam will be collected at the beginning of the first class. Mahalo!

\ ART CLASS

Ages: 4-6

Description: Intro to Art is a brief exposure to several different art forms and techniques. I will be working from the curriculum Visual Manna’s Complete Art Curriculum by Richard and Sharon Jeffus, Drawing with Children by Mona Brookes, and ATELIER by Marcia L. Osterink, to allow students to experiment with different art materials, gain a basic understanding of visual art forms, and become familiar with identifying different styles in art.
The goals of the Atelier program are:

To teach every child how to express himself/herself through art by:
Learning to draw
Learning a variety of techniques
Working in a variety of media
To understand the art elements and principles
To participate in multi-sensory experiences
To study the art of other artists, cultures and historical periods
To teach students to see and understand the aesthetic elements which give a work of art lasting beauty and meaning
To develop mental skills which are not developed by other disciplines

\ BEGINNING DRAWING

Ages: 8+

Description: Beginning Drawing is a class for those who want to learn foundational techniques in drawing. Attention to line, value, proportion, perspective, and composition will be the focus.
 

\ PRIVATE LESSONS

Private art lessons focusing in drawing and/or painting are offered to students who are looking for individualized attention in the arts. Lessons are customized according to desire/need.

\ BIOGRAPHY

ArtHisWay classes are taught by Joanna Lam. Born and raised in the state of Hawaii, Joanna Lam grew up in a family who supported the arts. Both Joanna and her sisters pursued dance at a young age, but it was in Joanna’s second year of college that she discovered a hidden passion.

After taking a drawing class from Carl Jennings at Kapiolani Community College, Joanna knew this was what she wanted to pursue further. Joanna has earned her Bachelor degree in Studio Art and a minor in dance at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Joanna has studied the techniques of traditional masters in an Atelier program, has taught both private and group lessons to children, and is always discovering something new to learn about art. Joanna’s heart and life’s passion is to use her many forms of art, and dancing, as vessels that will inspire and bless people of all generations and nationalities.
